Shahan Ali Mohsin salvages 4th place in Asia Max Karting Championship

-Continues to lead the Micro Max Championship standings with a 5-point advantage

29 May 2016 (Sepang Circuit, Malaysia): On a challenging weekend in the Asian karting Championship, Agra’s Shahan Ali Mohsin executed a near-flawless drive to finish fourth in Round 4 of the Asian Karting Championship held here today.

The weekend started on a slightly tough note as Shahan’s Top Kart team took some time to find the ideal setup for the conditions, and after trying out several permutations and combinations on the engine and chassis front, he still could only muster a second row spot on the grid in qualifying. The gap to the frontrunners was to the tune of two-tenths of a second and given the tough competition, it meant starting from fourth place.

Shahan managed to hold on to his position in both heat races to finish fourth and things were looking good for the pre-finals. However, a slightly jammed throttle cable put paid to those hopes. After climbing up to 3rd place, he dropped down to 5th due to the loss of exit speed. He managed to valiantly fight his way to 2nd place on the final lap but had to eventually settle for 3rd.

In the finals though, despite putting up a staunch defence, Shahan had to let go of his place as the gap of two-tenths of a second in terms of pure pace, proved too difficult to overcome.

Overall, Shahan’s Asia Max weekend turned out to be an exercise in damage limitation but the solace came from the fact that he continues to lead the Micro Max Championship standings with a five point cushion to his closest rival, Oscar NG.

In addition to his campaign in Asia, Shahan will start his defence of the Micro Max Championship title in the JK Tyre National Karting Championship in India, scheduled to kick off in Bangalore on 4-5 June.
